Vic West Win Simmons Cup!
Vic West prevailed in an extremely tight race to win the Simmons Cup this past weekend. The team skipped by Nancy Fraser, with 3rd Nancy Oberholtzer and lead Marie Lansdowne went undefeated narrowly beating out seccond place finishers Lori Brown, Vicki Hankins and Vivian Bleeks from Cowichan and third place finishers from Lake Hill, Shona Dallison, Kathryn Bridge and Laima van Turnhout. 20 teams and 60 players took part.

Brandi Prevails in Epic Finale
Brandi Biggar defeated Maia Kozak 15-13 in an epic final to win the Women's Novice Singles Championship. Each player traded the lead back and forth several times during the game but in the end it was Brandi that prevailed. In the third place game Nisha defeated Shirley. There were a total of 8 women vying for the title August 8 and 9th, this marks the first time in recent memory that the number of entries required the tournament to be played over 2 days. Brandi will now represent the club at the Novice BSI August 29 and 30 at Central Saanich.

Scott Simmons Wins Men's Novice!
Scott Simmons went undefeated to win the Men's Novice Championship on Saturday sealing his victory after a come from behind victory over Denis Huneau in the 3rd match. As Scott is uavailable for the BSI Men's Novice tournament, Andrew Vaughan who placed 2nd overall has agreed to represent the club on September 12-13 at Vic West.

Barb and Bryan Win Club Mixed Pairs
After three consecutive evenings of exceptional play, the club’s inaugural Mixed Pairs Championship wrapped up with a pair of dramatic finishes. Barb Marriott and Bryan McColl took home the title in a 16–15 nail-biter against Joe and Susan Schiphorst. Meanwhile, Don Allan and Libby Weiser captured third place in another thriller, edging out Nick Bantock and Bobbi-Jean Charlton 15–14. Congratulations to all our competitors! Barb and Bryan are holding the Comrade Doubles trophy first awarded in 1932 and last awarded in 2004.

Cutthroat Triples
Not as sinister as it sounds! Cuthroat triples is a SOCIAL league that features three players each playing for points. Points are awarded for the first four bowls closest to the jack where the closest bowl earns 4pts, second closest 3pts, third closest 2pts and the fourth closest 1pt; each end is worth 10pts. It's a great format!

Curious about lawn bowling? We offer a comprehensive introductory package of three lessons for just $25—a fee that can be fully applied toward your membership if you choose to join. Our volunteer coaches will guide you through the basics of the grip, delivery, and line of aim in a relaxed, friendly environment. Lessons recommence each April following our Public Open House. All you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes; we provide the bowls and the expertise
