Sixteen men's pairs teams competed in the 94th running of the Yarrow Cup at CP Lawn Bowling Club. Facing a strong field that included many of Victoria's top bowlers, Gopal Gowda and Don Allan earned a place in the B Division after Day 1. The VBCC pair carried their momentum into Sunday's playoffs, winning their semifinal and going on to capture the B Division title. Congratulations to Gopal and Don for proudly representing VBCC and achieving an outstanding result. 🏆

Vic West prevailed in an extremely tight race to win the Simmons Cup this past weekend. The team skipped by Nancy Fraser, with 3rd Nancy Oberholtzer and lead Marie Lansdowne went undefeated narrowly beating out seccond place finishers Lori Brown, Vicki Hankins and Vivian Bleeks from Cowichan and third place finishers from Lake Hill, Shona Dallison, Kathryn Bridge and Laima van Turnhout. 20 teams and 60 players took part.

Brandi Biggar defeated Maia Kozak 15-13 in an epic final to win the Women's Novice Singles Championship. Each player traded the lead back and forth several times during the game but in the end it was Brandi that prevailed. In the third place game Nisha defeated Shirley. There were a total of 8 women vying for the title August 8 and 9th, this marks the first time in recent memory that the number of entries required the tournament to be played over 2 days. Brandi will now represent the club at the Novice BSI August 29 and 30 at Central Saanich.

Scott Simmons went undefeated to win the Men's Novice Championship on Saturday sealing his victory after a come from behind victory over Denis Huneau in the 3rd match. As Scott is uavailable for the BSI Men's Novice tournament, Andrew Vaughan who placed 2nd overall has agreed to represent the club on September 12-13 at Vic West.

After three consecutive evenings of exceptional play, the club’s inaugural Mixed Pairs Championship wrapped up with a pair of dramatic finishes. Barb Marriott and Bryan McColl took home the title in a 16–15 nail-biter against Joe and Susan Schiphorst. Meanwhile, Don Allan and Libby Weiser captured third place in another thriller, edging out Nick Bantock and Bobbi-Jean Charlton 15–14. Congratulations to all our competitors! Barb and Bryan are holding the Comrade Doubles trophy first awarded in 1932 and last awarded in 2004.

Bobbi-Jean Charlton earned a hard fought second place finish at the Bowls BC Provincial Playdowns at Granville Park losing in a tiebreaker to Stanley Park's Gabrielle Ladoudeur. As a result of her second place finish however, Bobbi-Jean will now participate in the nationals taking place in North Vancouver August 17-23. Congratulations Bobbi-Jean!

On a gorgeous day at VBCC, Don Allan and Geoff Poulton went undefeated to win the Totem Scotch Pairs tournament. This long running club tournament provided excellent conditions and superb bowling. Well done to the 2nd place winners Keith and Sandy and to the 3rd place team of Barb and Paula. Huge thanks to Dennis and Amber for another terrificly well organized event.

Don won the Men's Club Singles Championship the hard way. After finishing 8th in the round robin, he beat the first place finisher Gopal Gowda in the quarters, then the 2nd place finisher Dennis Delorme in the semi's and then the 4th place finisher (and new bowler!) James Strickland in the final (hats off to James who played brilliantly). Don now has his name engraved on the trophy for a third time having won it in 2016 and 2017. In the third place game it was Bryan McColl beating Dennis Delorme. A terrific three days of very high calibre bowling!

Wednesday evening under perfect conditions, Paula Parkinson capped off an incredible run by winning the Women's Club Singles Championship with a win over Libby Weiser. Paula went undefeated over three nights and will have her name back on the trophy for the second time, having last won it in 2017.
