
All Systems Go for the Western Canada Open Croquet
VBCC and Oak Bay are set to host the Western Canada Open Golf Croquet Championship from August 21–24, 2026. The trophy is ready, schedules finalized, and hospitality plans nearly complete. A full field of 16 players is confirmed, including seven travelling from outside Victoria. Several will be competing in a sanctioned GC event for the first time, eager to build their skills. Strong regional and local commitment shows real momentum for competitive croquet, and we’re ready to begin.

Superb Finish for Gopal in Toronto
Gopal Gowda competed in the croquet nationals in Toronto where he had a terrific tournament, going 5-1 in the preliminary rounds before falling in the quarterfinals. Overall an outstanding results Gopal, congratulations.

Croquet Women’s Doubles – July 7 - Final Results
Twelve players—six experienced and six novices—played five balanced rounds in perfect weather. Each match paired one experienced player with one novice, creating maximum variety and fair competition. 1st place & Trophy: Michelle Aylward/Cathy Crawford; 2nd place: Donna Del Torre/Becky V Steen; 3rd place: Rosemary V Delbridge/Barbara Harris

Western Canada Open GC: Ready to Play
When we first teased that Victoria was gearing up to host the Western Canada Open Golf Croquet Championship, the event was still a bold idea gathering steam. Now the wait is over. The concept has become a championship — and the countdown is officially on. Victoria will host its first ever Western Canada Open Golf Croquet Championship from August 22–24, 2026. The championship field is capped at 16 players, and we now have a full slate confirmed.

Our member, Gopal Gowda, is currently preparing the next issue of The Mallet, Croquet Canada’s national newsletter, with release expected in August. This publication reaches croquet players and members from coast to coast, and the upcoming edition is already shaping up to be an exciting one. VBCC’s hosting has become a cornerstone of this interclub tradition, offering a welcoming space where players from across the region can reconnect, meet new faces, and celebrate the sport that links their clubs together. With five years now behind it, Ladies’ Night has proven that croquet in Victoria isn’t just about competition — it’s about community, shared moments, and the simple pleasure of spending a summer evening together.
